Editorial policy
Genuine Movie Guide aims to make thoughtful, useful writing about movie craft. We value accuracy, clear distinctions between observation and interpretation, and straightforward disclosure when editorial independence could be affected.
Accuracy and interpretation
We check names, titles and factual claims against reliable material available to us before publication. When a piece offers an interpretation, we present it as a reading rather than an established fact. We avoid claiming to know a filmmaker's intention unless that claim is supported and clearly attributed. We do not invent sources, quotations, experience or access.
Independence and disclosure
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a condition of a commercial relationship. Sponsored or partner material is identified clearly where it appears, and its commercial nature is not disguised as independent editorial coverage. A partnership does not guarantee a favourable mention or influence an unrelated article.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, please use the Contact page and identify the article and point at issue. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, correct the relevant text and make the nature of the correction clear. We distinguish corrections from stylistic edits.
Illustrations and AI
Some illustrations may be generated with AI tools. Where an illustration is AI-generated, we identify it as such. Illustrations are not presented as documentary evidence, production stills or authentic images from a film unless they are in fact those things.
